It might feel a tad early to start thinking about jingle bells and silent nights, but the city’s finest makers have been gearing up for Holiday 2015 for months now. Here's a round-up of the coolest markets and pop-ups to buy handmade across Baltimore——and boy, are there options. Now you have zero excuses not to shop local, shop small, and shop #madeinBaltimore this season. Ready, set, mark those calendars!
Holiday Delights Pop-Up Shop
The Industrial Arts Collective is recreating their Made In Baltimore pop-up shop at the Women’s Exchange in Mt. Vernon. The opening night party, complete with beer from Union Craft Brewery, promises to be a hoot.
A Holiday Thing
Join the creative team from Make Studio at Schwing Art Center and shop from a selection of fine art and craft wares, including jewelry, furniture, children’s books and more.
Swing by the Waldorf School of Baltimore for their family-friendly craft fair and artisan market. Enjoy live music, beeswax-candle rolling and jump-rope making for kids of all ages, while shopping for gifts from local makers.
The Gift Dept.
Don’t miss the preview event for The Gift Dept., a pop-up collab shop curated by the uber-talented Almanac Industries and the design whizzes at Drexler.
Charm City Flea
The folks behind Bmore Flea are taking over St. John’s Church at 2640 St. Paul to host a major market on two dates: 11/28 and 12/19.
Artifact Coffee is hosting a holiday maker’s market early next month, and word is they’re still accepting vendor applications: email email@example.com to apply.
Holiday Artisan Market
More than 40 artists and crafters will be setting up shop at The Park School of Baltimore. Free admission plus a fun kids’ craft activity will be on offer.
Local Color Flowers is hosting their third annual gift market, featuring family-friendly food and craft vendors (and LoCoFlo’s pretty arrangements, naturally).
Holiday Barn Sale
Trek outside the city limits to Star Bright Farm in White Hall for a shopping/wine party with some of our favorite vendors.
Don’t miss this juried craft show at the Creative Alliance in Highlandtown with more than 50 vendors. Bonus: Drop your kids off at the free arts workshop while you shop!
For the Greater Goods
Hosted by b.Willow, this pop-up shop at Dust Town Studios features an all-star vendor line-up and doubles as a benefit for Health Care for the Homeless.
The mother of all holiday markets, Charm City Craft Mafia’s biggest show, is back. And for all you last-minute lazies, their Last Stop Hops & Shop is happening on 12/17.
Bonus thing: If you’re into making your own gifts this year, join us this Sunday, 11/22 for a lesson in crafting herbal medicine and create curative potions for everyone on your list. More info here!
P.S. Did I miss a market? Send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll update the list.
